History of Roger’s Academy

Roger’s Academy was established by the vision and toil of a few academicians, in an urge to set standards of excellence and perfection in the year 2000 at Pradhan Nagar Siliguri, later the school was registered under society named "ROGER’S EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION" on 8th September 2004 under West Bengal Societies Registration Act XXVI of 1961 with registration Number ''S/IL/24168''. The school has a properly constituted Governing Body and Managing Committee. The medium of instruction in the school is English and the scheme of studies is in accordance with the scheme laid down by the Council for Secondary stages. Special importance is given to English (including oral and aural English) for which a high standard is maintained. The staffs are well qualified and trained in accordance with the qualifications prescribed by the Council. Today the expertise and methodologies of this school have generated confidence among the students, parents and general public due to which this institution is considered a premier institution in this region.

“Roger’s Academy” is affiliated to Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi (Affiliation Code: WB400) located at Uttar Palash, Debidanga, P. O, Champasari, Pin Code No. 734003. The society/school also has obtained its permanent NOC from the Commissioner of School Education, Govt. of West Bengal on 5 July, 2017. The school got its provisional Affiliation on 9 October, 2018. From Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations up to class X. The school infrastructure is adequate for accommodating the numbers and gender of pupils attending the school. The playing fields and/or other facilities for extra-curricular and co-curricular activities are adequate.  Special attention is paid to physical education, art and music. The school has a well-equipped Physics, Chemistry and Biology Laboratory as well as Library for its pupils and staff. The school infrastructure is adequate for accommodating the numbers and gender of pupils attending the school.

The playing fields and/or other facilities for extra-curricular and co-curricular activities are adequate.  Special attention is paid to physical education, art and music to give a holistic approach. The school has been recognised up to class X. Each section of a class is not more than 35 students.

Our understanding of the student’s needs at different stages of their preparation has been the guiding force behind the structure and methodology of each subject. We concentrate basically on tapping the basic potential of every individual student. A student will have the right mix of classes, problem solving and doubt removing sessions supplemented by test analysing sessions. These will give the student the necessary feedback to develop examination temperament. On the basis of our comprehensive course coverage, years of teaching experience and the results we have produced in the past we confidently expect that even an average student who will sincerely follow the faculty, will come out with flying colours in the examinations.

At Roger’s Academy we believe in ‘learning by doing’. Therefore, our teaching aids are selected keeping in mind a child’s need to touch, explore, learn and enjoy by play way method. We have an art corner where students explore the concept colours, shades, textures and enjoy with paints, play with gum and paper. In block building corner children learn about sequencing, size, shape, and indulge in the absolute pleasure of building things and breaking them. We firmly believe in the philosophy of overall child development. 

In the discovery corner children watch how a seed grow into a plant, how a flower or a leaf change its colours. Here they also learn about different animals and plants and lots more. They make paper boats and float it in an artificial pond feel new experience out of it.

Students applying for admission are subjected to an interview and test. They are tested in the standard immediately below that to which they seek admission. A candidate who has attended a recognised school cannot be admitted without a transfer certificate from the school he last attended. Catholic pupils also need to produce a Baptism Certificate. Our school even give free education to underprivileged children to help them to get access to education.

Our school has Unit Tests 1 and 2 followed by Half-yearly and Final Exam respectively. There is no provision for reassessment if a student fails to give the test on the specified dates under no circumstances. Student should score minimum 40% in overall and clean pass in English and then four subjects to get promotion.

Our school starts for all classes from 9:00 am and ends for playgroup and nursery at 12:30, KG, I and II at 1:30 pm and from IV to X at 3:20pm. Students are provided with a good collection of classics, Biographies, General Knowledge, Poetry, General Literature and Fiction, 75% attendance in mandatory for all classes especially for classes IX and X.

Our school caters to all round development of the children. We have Karate Classes, Physical training and Games classes for students of all classes. We have Inter House Competitions like Quiz, Debate and Football matches to bring about development of children physically and mentally.

In the beginning of the New academic session, we have investiture’s ceremony for the captains, vice captains and monitor, monitresses so that they can fulfil their duties in an unbiased way. 

Our school has all the necessary Computer Laboratory, Library, Halls (two), playground for the overall development of the children.

Our school was initially at Pradhan Nagar for 16 years and finally just before getting NOC our school was shifted to Uttar palash Champasari in 2017 in the month of June in a pollution free, clean atmosphere with the brand-new infrastructure.  Our joys knew no bounds to come to own Campus after a long wait. 

Since that time the school is developing and growing in all ways. We also focus on all round development of the children. We have lot of co-curricular activity throughout the year like debates, elocution, quiz, solo song, etc. We have Annual concert and sports in alternate years. Different occasions like Independence Day, Diwali, Republic Day, Bhanu Bhakta Jayanti, Gandhi Jayanti, Christmas etc. are celebrated with much enthusiasm by all the students and teachers.

Finally in October, 9th 2018, we received our provisional affiliation of Class X and first batch of seven students appeared for Board Exam in the 2020. Highest percentage was 94% followed by 92%,80%,76%,75%,74%, and 73%. Our students made a phenomenal performance in the Board Examination.

The second batch of our students appeared this year for the ICSE X 2021 - 22 examination which concluded on 19th May 2022. We are expecting them to perform very well.
